Press Release 2021

July 19, 2021

Welcome to the Chapelton Scarecrow Festival!

The Cairnhill Community Allotment Association is delighted to announce that the Chapelton Scarecrow festival is returning for its third year! Last year the festival raised £1600 for local community projects. This year we are raising funds for the allotments, Newtonhill Out of School Club and Chapelton bulb planting project.

Scarecrows will be appearing around Chapelton throughout the month of August. This year the festivals theme is “books”.

Visitors are invited pop to Teacake or Brio and make a donation to pick up a ballot paper (funds to Cairnhill Allotments, Newtonhill out of school club and Chapelton bulb planting project). Why not grab a fly cup and a fine piece while you’re there? Then wander around Chapelton and choose your favourite scarecrow before nipping back to Teacake or Brio to put your ballot in the box.

Don’t forget to observe social distancing when visiting, please don’t touch the scarecrows or other “high touch” areas (e.g. garden gates) and remember to wash/gel your hands.

There will be a digital map available via QR code in Teacake to help you find all the fantastic scarecrows!! For anyone shielding or trying to go contactless during the corona virus pandemic we have a new virtual scarecrow your and voting system available via our website at https://cairnhillallotments.uk/

During the last week of August our esteemed judges will be making the rounds to choose their winner-but everyone wants to be the community vote winner! So, come and help choose!! #chapeltonscarecrowfestival Why not join our Facebook group or follow us on Instagram @chapeltonscarecrowfestival to keep up to date with all the latest scarecrow news and pictures of the amazing creations!
